With plenty of cash to spend, it appears that the Miami Dolphins are ready to stock up on some playmakers for second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill heading into 2013. 2012 leading receiver Brian Hartline appears to be in negotiations with the Dolphins for a new contract and reports are suggesting that with the opening of the free agency period, Miami is going hard after two offensive weapons, WR Mike Wallace and TE Jared Cook.

The addition of Wallace gives the Dolphins a serious deep threat down the field, but it remains to be seen what he will bring on the open market after Dwayne Bowe just signed a 5-year, deal with the Chiefs worth a reported $56 million with nearly $30 million in guaranteed money.

Reports are also suggesting that the Dolphins have interest in upgrading their tight end position and what better way to do that than to add Tennessee Titans TE Jared Cook. Cook has all the physical talent but has struggled to hit his groove as a member of the Titans, being under utilized by his former team.

The Dolphins have a few key pieces in place and with providing Tannehill with a couple of new offensive weapons, Miami could see significant improvement in 2013 moving forward providing Tannehill can elevate his game in his second season. Miami faces a tough schedule in 2013, but adding key pieces could lead to an eight win season in Tannhill’s second season.
