One of the positions that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed to address this offseason was the tight end position. The Buccaneers were rumored at one point to be interested in Jared Cook, but he quickly inked a deal with his former head coach Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams. Instead, the Buccaneers signed Tom Crabtree, a member of the Green Bay Packers last season.
Jason Wilde reports the move on Twitter. “Wow. Hits keep comin’ for #packers. According to NFL source, TE @TCrabtree83 has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
Crabtree has been highly regarded by the Packers despite seeing limited action. The Packers rolled the dice and did not tender the tight end and according to multiple reports, generated a lot of interest at the start of free agency. He is highly regarded for his blocking ability and special teams play.
Crabtree comes in a six-foot-four inches 235 pounds and has 18 career receptions. Look for the Buccaneers to continue to address the tight end position either through free agency or in next month’s NFL Draft.
