The Cleveland Browns continued their activity in the free agent market on Monday. The Browns signed free agent wide receiver David Nelson to a one-year deal on Monday, although no financial details have been announced as of yet. This is an interesting signing for the Browns. Nelson brings a large frame at 6-foot-5 220 pounds.

Nelson is a promising young receiver and is coming off ACL surgery and is expected to be ready to go in Week One of the regular season.

In three seasons with the Bills, Nelson has recorded 94 receptions for 1,042 yards and eight touchdowns. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2011 when he logged 61 catches for 658 yards and five scores. Big things were expected from him in 2012 but he suffered a season ending knee injury in Week One.

Cleveland should feature one of the larger receiver corps in the NFL. Along with Nelson, Josh Gordon comes in at 6-foot-3 225 and Greg Little measures in at 6-foot-2 220.

Although Nelson’s role is clearly not known at the present time, he should provide the Browns a legitimate redzone target. Nelson joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent and played his college ball for the University of Florida.
