Could a reunion between RB Brandon Jacobs and the New York Giants be in the works for the 2013 season? According to The New York Post, there is a small possibility that the team could bring back the running back that was once a member of their running back group known as Earth, Wind and Fire. Jacobs joined the San Francisco 49ers last season but his outbursts on social media platforms led to his eventual release from the team on December 31, prior to the Niners entering the playoffs.

There is little market for a running back over the age of 30 in the NFL lately and Jacobs will be turning 31 in July.

A source tells the paper that Jacobs would love to return to New York. Obviously. He’s not generating any interest on the open market and battled knee issues last season. The Post reports that there have been no formal discussions inside the Giants’ front office about bringing back the beefy back for next season.

Jacobs best seasons are behind him. His production has steadily decreased in the last few seasons, coming off a career high 1,089 yards and 15 scores in 2008.

The Giants had no interest in bringing back RB Ahmad Bradshaw and have two young dynamic backs waiting to carry the ball for the team next season, David Wilson and Andre Brown.

Brown, in his second stint with the Giants was having an impressive season before breaking his leg on November 25. He finished the season with 385 yards on 73 carries.
