The Seattle Seahawks raised some eyebrows after selecting RB Christine Michael with their first selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. After their first game of the 2013 NFL preseason, Seattle might have silenced any critics. The Seahawks will be a run heavy offense once again this season, relaying on a solid running game while playing smothering defense. On Thursday night, the Seahawks illustrated just how potent their ground game could be this season.

While veteran RB Marshawn Lynch did not see any carries and RB Robert Turbin begins the season on the PUP list, rookie Christine Michael showcased some very strong running, carrying the ball 16 times for 89 yards. FB Spencer Ware also showed some solid running ability with 32 yards on seven carries along with a touchdown. Seattle finished with 128 total yards on the ground, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Seattle welcomed veteran quarterback Tarvaris Jackson back this offseason and he recorded a very solid outing. Jackson completed eight of nine passes for 128 yards and two scores while finishing the night with a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Jackson helped to orchestrate an impressive 7 plus minute scoring drive in the fourth quarter which resulted in a touchdown.

Seattle scored 24 points in the second half while defeating the San Diego Chargers 31-10. For most of the second half, the Seahawks operated on a short field on the heels of a very impressive punt return team.
