Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush traveled with his team to Washington to face the Redskins yesterday, but he is not expected to see any action. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter this morning, Bush is expected to sit this afternoon. Hopefully, Bush owners handcuffed him with Joique Bell. Bell is expected to get the start and the Lions will likely activate Mikel Leshoure for the first time this season. Leshoure has been a healthy scratch for the first two weeks of the season. Although Bush has stated that he wants to play, this is a wise move by the Lions to sit him while recovering from a knee injury suffered last week.
This is a very favorable matchup for Bell. The Redskins are allowing over 200 yards rushing per game. Last week, they allowed the Green Bay Packers to record their first 100-yard rusher in 44 straight games. James Starks recorded 132 yards on the ground.
UPDATE- Beat writer Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting on Twitter that the Lions will likely make rookie RB Theo Riddick to be the number two back this afternoon, not Mikel Leshoure. If Leshoure doesn’t see action today or is not activated, he might seriously be on the market to be moved before the trade deadline next month.
