Last week, San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis was a game time decision while dealing with a hamstring injury. Davis did not play in the Niners 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. His absence was felt greatly in the San Francisco offense. The Niners are working on a short week as they prepare to travel to St. Louis to take on the St. Louis Rams Thursday night.

Davis was back onto the practice field this week for the Niners. He has practiced twice, but has been limited both times.

At this time, Davis is expected to play against the Rams but whether or not he will be limited to a certain number of plays remains to be seen.

San Francisco needs Davis back into the lineup. The Niners have suffered two consecutive crushing defeats at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts. If the Seahawks defeat the Houston Texans on Sunday, the loser of Thursday night’s game will be three games out of the division lead.
