The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a change at quarterback this week by benching veteran QB Josh Freeman. Rookie Mike Glennon gets his first start this afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals defense is banged up but what is bad news for Glennon, so is the Buccaneers receiving corps. Vincent Jackson is dealing with a rib injury while Mike Williams is battling through a hamstring injury. The Buccaneers might let Jackson “rest” this afternoon.

According to Ian Rapoport on Twitter, “VJax is pushing to play, but the Bucs may let him rest through the bye. He’s deciding whether or not to take pain-killing shot to tough it out.” Tampa has a bye in Week Five.

It’s becoming more clear that Vincent Jackson will be a game time decision. Glennon is going to need all the help he can get this afternoon against the Cardinals in his first start. The loss of either or both starting receivers will hinder his performance on the field.

Fantasy owners should closely monitor this situation as we get closer to kickoff. Even if Jackson starts, his production will be limited with Tampa starting a rookie quarterback while the receiver will likely be blanketed by Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson.

UPDATE: Jackson is officially listed as active for the Buccaneers this afternoon.
