The Detroit Lions hoped to fill the void in their backfield this past offseason with the addition of free agent Reggie Bush. Bush put up 191 total yards. Bush, coupled with the recent addition of Joique Bell, seems to have filled the need for running backs in Detroit. There is another back on the Lions roster though, Mikel Leshoure. It seems as if Leshoure is unhappy and wouldn’t mind getting out of the Motor City.

Last week against the Minnesota Vikings, Leshoure was a healthy scratch. The Lions do not play until 4 pm EST this afternoon, so we don’t know if he will be a scratch yet again today. He does not play special teams so his value might be declining for the Lions.

Leshoure blew out his Achilles during the preseason of his rookie year and missed the season. Last year, he rushed for 798 yards and nine touchdowns but his longest run of the season was just 16 yards. The timing for a trade might be perfect for Leshoure. The Indianapolis Colts seem to be in the market for a back after the freak injury to RB Vick Ballard at practice this past week.

Colts owner Jim Irsay took to Twitter as he usually does and suggested that the Colts would actively being looking at a trade before the league deadline next month. “Grig’s gonna work hard to wheel and deal B4 trade deadline, let’s roll,” was part of the Tweet.

The Colts are left with the oft-injured Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown on the roster.
