The final game of week five for the 2013 NFL season gets underway this evening. This Monday Night Football game features one team which is really underachieving and one team that seems to be surprising the NFL world. The Atlanta Falcons enter this game with a 1-3 record and have lost three games by a combined 17 points. The New York Jets, starting a rookie quarterback have really been a competitive team early this season, despite their road loss 38-10 to the Tennessee Titans last week.

The Falcons have had a very disappointing start to the 2013 season, a loss tonight puts them 3 1/2 games in the standings behind the New Orleans Saints. I can’t see the Falcons losing at home tonight to the Jets, and if they do, then the discussion about head coach Mike Smith’s future has to be undertaken.

The Jets come into this game struggling. Offensive weapons are still limited. Rookie QB Geno Smith is making typical rookie mistakes and turning the ball over. Smith shows some promise, but he has to have more offensive weapons surrounding him.

The Vegas line has the Falcons giving 10 points and the over/under at 44 points. It’s been crazy to swallow double digit points this season in NFL games, but I am suggesting to swallow the points. The Jets have played better defense than expected this season, but they are on the road.

Vegas Line- Falcons-10 44

Give the points and take the under. Falcons 31-10.
