Despite attempts to return to the football field this season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin’s season is now over. The club announced on Friday that the second year back was placed on season ending injured reserve. Martin suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder. Martin had been out of the Buccaneers lineup for the last two games and obviously the team believed that he would be unable to return this season.
Mike James has stepped in as the starting running back for Tampa Bay. James posted an impressive outing last week in Seattle after rushing for 158 yards on 28 carries and threw a jump pass at the goal line for a touchdown.
Fantasy owners should wisely add James to their rosters. Surprisingly, James is only owned in 30% of ESPN leagues. James will be the focal point of the Buccaneers run heavy offense moving forward in the last eight games of the season. James warrants consideration as a RB2 this week against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
