On the first drive of the afternoon, the New York Jets lost quarterback Geno Smith. Smith was leveled on a pass attempt by Buffalo Bills defender DT Marcell Dareus. Matt Simms is warming up on the sidelines. For the season, the Jets have alternated wins and losses every other week since the first week of the regular season. Prior to their bye week, the Jets won, defeating the New Orleans Saints 26-20.

Simms has completed three of seven attempts this season for just 17 yards.

UPDATE: Smith has returned to the game. No diagnosis has been officially reported but the announcers have suggested that he might be suffering from bruised ribs.

UPDATE: 3:45pm Matt Simms entered the game in the fourth quarter after Smith was largely ineffective. Simms was 3-for-3 on the drive and threw a touchdown.
