The quarterback situation for the Green Bay Packers could quickly be an issue after Monday night. QB Aaron Rodgers departed the game against the Chicago Bears after suffering an apparent shoulder injury. Green Bay is one of the few teams around the NFL which carries just two quarterbacks on their roster. Without further information regarding Rodgers’ injury, could the team bring back QB Matt Flynn?

After leaving the Packers via free agency two seasons ago, Flynn has made his way around the NFL. He has spent time in Seattle, Oakland and most recently, with the Buffalo Bills. Flynn was released this afternoon by the Bills once it was announced that rookie QB E.J. Manuel was cleared to return to practice and might even be ready to return to the starting lineup this Sunday.

Could Flynn now draw his fourth paycheck from an NFL team in this calendar year? He does have knowledge of the Packers offense. Aaron Rodgers walked back onto the field in after the start of the second half in sweatpants and gave thumbs up to the crowd but Packers fans and fantasy football owners are going to have to await the official word from the Packers as to what the extent of his injury is.

Once the Oakland Raiders released Flynn earlier this season, there was speculation that Flynn would return to the Packers. However, many outlets reported that the Packers believed that Flynn was suffering from a lingering elbow injury.

If he can throw a football, and if Rodgers is going to miss several games depending on his injury, Matt Flynn could get a call from Green Bay later this evening.
