Wow! I thought I had too much Egg Nog during the corporate office party this afternoon at the world headquarters of ThePigskinReport. I could have sworn that I had read that the Dallas Cowboys signed Jon Kitna to a contract this afternoon. Once I dispensed the employees and cleaned the contacts, what I read was correct, reports are suggesting that the Dallas Cowboys have signed 41-year old Jon Kitna to a contract.
I realize that many Cowboys fans love to blame all the failures of the team on QB Tony Romo, but anyone with a rational brain wave could understand that the decision making process from the top down is simply not working.
ESPN reports that the Cowboys worked out David Carr, John Skelton, Tyler Thigpen, Caleb Haine and Richard Bartel on Tuesday before deciding on Kitna. That group of quarterbacks should tell you just how poor the talent pool is for quarterbacks in the NFL.
It should also provide yet another reason why Jerry Jones should step down as general manager and allow a true football talent personnel person to walk in and take control while he watches games from the Sky Box.
In order to accommodate the addition of Kitna, Dallas released WR/KR Michael Spurlock, who most recently had a 62-yard punt return against the Washington Redskins. Spurlock is the kick returner that broke the streak of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers never having a kickoff return for a touchdown in franchise history.
Wow. Just, Wow.
