The Tennessee Titans are struggling through another lackluster season. The Titans appear to be headed for yet another sub-.500 season this year despite upgrading their offensive line this past offseason. Expect some major changes for Tennessee after this season. Those changes could include the release of RB Chris Johnson.
Appearing on NFL Network Game Day, insider Ian Rapoport suggested that the Titans will clean house this offseason with the coaching staff. He even went as far to suggest that head coach Mike Munchak could be fired before the end of this year. Munchak has a 20-24 record at this point in three seasons with the Titans. Rapoport also reported that his sources have told him that the Titans are not expected to pick up the 2015 option on QB Jake Locker and will be in the market for a quarterback this year.
Rapoport suggested that if the Bears do not work out a deal with Jay Cutler, they would be very interested in the former Vanderbilt star. Remember that the Titans were bidding for Peyton Manning two seasons ago.
Mike Silver suggested that the Titans will likely release RB Chris Johnson and his huge contract. After rushing for 2,006 yards and landing a large contract, Johnson has struggled on the field. He will likely miss the 1,000 yard mark this season. Johnson landed a monster deal worth $55 million with $30 million guaranteed in 2011. Johnson is scheduled to earn $8 million in 2014 and his production on the field simply does not warrant that kind of contract.
