The NFL Owners meetings kicked off this morning in Orlando, Florida with Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay being absent. Irsay has checked into a rehab facility following his arrest last week of DWI and felony prescription drug possession. Why Irsay is in rehab, he has signed off on having one of his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, assume his duties.

Colts beat writer Bob Kravitz tweeted a few days ago that Carlie, one of Irsay’s three daughters, would have the authority to sign off on trades, acquisitions and football operations.

Carlie, 33, has had a history with the Colts franchise, serving an internship with the team while she was in college.

Time will tell what the future holds for Mr. Irsay once his rehab is complete. There is some speculation that he might pull back his responsibilities as his daughter starts to fill a larger role with the franchise.
