While the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears are feeling the pain of losing their starting quarterbacks, you can now add the Detroit Lions to the list of teams now looking at backup quarterbacks. The Detroit Lions will host the Denver Broncos in the prime time Sunday Night game this coming weekend and it appears today as if, QB Matthew Stafford might not be available.

During his Monday press conference today, head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters, “We’ll see” when he was asked if Stafford would suit up this next week for the 0-2 Lions. Stafford has taken a serious beating in his first two games and the team is examining his ribs and chest while the signal caller has suffered numbness in his throwing arm. Detroit, a playoff team in 2014, is now 2 games behind NFC North division leading Green Bay and faces a difficult matchup the next week. If Stafford is unavailable to go, the Lions will turn to journeyman QB Dan Orlovsky. Detroit only carries two quarterbacks, so if Orlovsky gets the starting nod, look for the Lions to add another signal caller from the street.

From a fantasy standpoint, the Lions offensive players were going to be knocked down a notch this week while facing the Broncos defense, if Orlovsky gets the start, you can further downgrade key players.
